Rorschach Update: New Tutorials, Retail Stock & AV Converter Testing

Over the last few weeks we've finally been able to turn our attention back to something we've been wanting to do for a long time, creating more content for the growing Rorschach community.

Since catching up with customer orders, we've been busy producing a series of tutorial videos to help new and existing users get the most from their Rorschach video synthesizer.

Our First Three Tutorials Are Now Live

We're pleased to announce that the first three official Rorschach tutorial videos are now available on our YouTube channel.

Each tutorial focuses on a different aspect of the instrument and is designed to help you become familiar with Rorschach's unique approach to analog video synthesis.

The tutorials currently available are:

• Tutorial #2 – Patch Inputs Explained
• Tutorial #3 – Forms & Form Selection Explained

 

 

 

 

Whether you're completely new to video synthesis or you've already spent some time experimenting with Rorschach, we hope these videos help you discover new techniques and better understand how the instrument works.

This is only the beginning. We already have plenty more tutorials planned, covering everything from audio reactivity and creative patching to advanced techniques and performance workflows.

DIY Quality Testing Video

We've also uploaded another video that many DIY builders may find useful.

One of the questions we've been asked most often is:

"How can I tell if I've built my Rorschach correctly?"

To help answer that, we've published a quality checking demonstration that walks through the same tests we perform on every prebuilt Rorschach before it leaves our workshop.

If you've recently completed a DIY kit, this video is a great way to confirm that everything is working exactly as it should.

 

 

 

Retail Stock Update

After several months of catching up with customer orders, we're pleased to say that Rorschach is becoming much easier to get hold of.

• SchneidersLaden in Berlin should also be receiving fresh stock very shortly.

If you're outside the UK, buying from one of our retailers can often mean faster delivery and, depending on your location, may simplify import and customs arrangements.

AV to HDMI Converter Compatibility

We've also been investigating reports from a small number of customers who have experienced problems using certain AV to HDMI converters.

Typically, the issue presents itself like this:

• Rorschach displays correctly for a few seconds.
• The converter then switches to a blue screen.
• The signal returns briefly before disappearing again.

After purchasing and testing a number of different converters ourselves, we've discovered that not all AV to HDMI converters are created equal. Although they often look almost identical externally, many use different internal chipsets, and some simply don't cope well with the low-resolution composite video signal produced by Rorschach.

If you're experiencing this issue, please get in touch with us and we'll happily recommend converters that we've tested and know to work reliably.

We're also expecting a shipment of compatible converters ourselves, which we'll be making available through our website. We're even considering offering them as an optional bundle alongside Rorschach to make getting started as straightforward as possible.
